ABOUT THE FILM

Patricia June Vickers, her brother Roy Henry Vickers, and other Indigenous Elders, healers, and activists from the Esk’etemc, Gitxsan, and Wet’suwet’en territories open their hearts and histories in this deeply human story of healing.

Born into a world shaped by the violence of forced assimilation, they carry the intergenerational impact of residential schools, scars that ripple through memory, body, and lineage.

Through trauma healing work, ceremony, land, and language, they navigate the deep echoes of intergenerational trauma, transforming disconnection, substance use, and cultural grief into profound pathways of healing and deep remembrance.

We know through sacred ceremony the reconciliation is already done.
Patricia June Vickers, Indigenous Trauma Therapist & Artist
I see God in everything. In the sunlight, the trees that are there, the water, the air, the universe. You know, we respect that, we know that's God's work.
Fredrick Johnson, ICAD Counselor, Esk'etemc First Nation
Our therapy is being along the rivers, working on our salmon, hunting the foods, going for the berries and the medicines, enjoying that land that is there for us. That is the therapy that is needed.
Chief Na'Moks, Hereditary Chief of the Tsayu Clan, Wet'suwet'en Territory
They failed to take my language away. My language is my wisdom.
Dave Belleau, ICAD Counselor, Esk'etemc First Nation
It will change when you say, “I am going to love myself and everyone I come across.”
Roy Henry Vickers, Indigenous Elder, Artist & Hereditary Chief of the House of Walkus, Wuikinuxv
We are just shapes of this exact land right here. It's sacred in every respect. So when it comes to healing all that trauma, I firmly believe we have all those tools already. Those tools are in the culture, they're in the language, they're on the land.
Kolin Sutherland-Wilson, Elected Chief of the Kispiox Band, Gitxsan Nation
