SAND’s Work

SAND is a nonprofit organization
under section 501c.3 of the US tax code.

We thank the past, current, and future Indigenous stewards of this territory. In the logic of modernity, giving is often framed as charity—a way to ease guilt without unsettling the deeper habits of extraction, accumulation, and consumption. True reciprocity asks us to go deeper. At SAND, we are committed to living into the spirit of the gift. We honor all that has been generously offered—from the making of The Eternal Song to the collective care that sustains our dialogues, events, and films. Everything we share is offered by donation and self-distributed, funded by the contributions of our community. Once our costs are covered, we gift back what remains.

With The Eternal Song, at least 50% of the funds we receive—after covering costs—are directed to Indigenous-led initiatives in the territories where we filmed. As this practice evolves, we are deepening our relationship with the Transition Resource Circle, an organization devoted to the healing and liberation of wealth in service of Life. As you receive this offering—through the film, the stories, and the conversations it sparks—we invite you to reflect on how you might enter into a deeper practice of reciprocity. May this offering honor the past, present, and future Indigenous stewards of these lands. May our giving reflect a deeper kind of wealth—held in rivers and mountains, ancestral songs, seeds, ceremonies, kinship, and care.
